great basin-is a water shed that doesn't empty into a larger body of water

this is the headwaters of the mississippi people walk across the rocks everyday

headwaters- where a river starts

this is a down river there is not much light

down river-the area between the floodplain and headwaters

this is the tributaries of the mississippi there are about 12

tributaries-a stream or river that flows into a mainstream

the hill in the center is a divide

divide-is a hill that divides 2 watersheds
