Dear Heritage Family,
I hope you all enjoyed your weekend and didn't spend too much money on Tax Free Weekend! Ready or not, WELCOME BACK TO SCHOOL for the 2015-16 school year. Last week was an awesome back to school for our students and our HES families. The students will be viewing their first WABC Morning Show this morning during homeroom. Click here to view the morning show.
Our SUPER Open House and New Student Orientation were wonderful events. It was an exciting evening and we had a wonderful turnout. We received very positive feedback about the food trucks, photo booth, bounce houses, parking help, and the revised format. It was a pleasure seeing numerous familiar faces and also several new faces to add to our Heritage family. Thank you all so much for your patience with parking and the large crowds. We will continue to tweak our plans to try to alleviate those two issues. I would like to offer a big thanks to our PTA , parent volunteers, and our faculty and staff for making this a great evening for our students and families. I hope you all had an opportunity to see some of the improvements we have made to our facilities over the summer. The extension to the greenway and the parking lot improvements for greenway visitors has been a huge improvement to the campus. Thanks to Commissioner Steve Haraway and the City of Madison for helping us make these improvements a reality. The fresh paint in the hallways is awesome! Mrs. Brown's work in our garden is beautiful! Two of my favorite projects are the new mural in the stairwell closest to Door B and our Garden of Leaders foyer. A huge thanks to Mr. Newquist for designing and painting our beautiful new mural. Also, a great big thanks to several parent and teacher volunteers led by parent volunteer, Mrs. Millsap, who took my very simple vision for the foyer and made it much bigger and better than I could have ever envisioned. Be on the lookout for more improvements. (BTW - we are always in need of paint volunteers!)
My very favorite part of back to school week was seeing the students arrive at school on Wednesday with smiles on their faces and the many hugs I received. As I walked into each classroom, the excitement of a new learning adventure with all of the freshness of new teachers, new school supplies, and new classmates was contagious. The students make our job a joy. Thank you for sharing your precious children with us each day.
We hope many of your will join us tonight for PTA meeting in the cafeteria and at our Heritage Spirit Night at Moe's this Thursday night. Until then, have a fabulous week. Go Rams!

Kindergarten "Colors" Week-- Please encourage your students to support our Kindergarten by wearing these colors this week. Monday –Red, Tuesday – Orange, Wednesday – Yellow, Thursday – Green, and Friday – Blue.
Car line-- Please look over the car line procedures we sent home during Open House. In order to maintain safety it is important to make certain your child is seated in the passenger side of the car during drop off. Teaches/Administrators will be available to open doors and assist students in exiting/entering vehicles. Please do not get out of your vehicle as it slows down the process. Also, please make certain your child is ready to exit when it is your time to do so. Lastly, please do not pass other vehicles who are unloading or loading. Simply wait until you are motioned forward. Thanks in advance for helping us maintain safety while at the same time keeping our line moving. We know car line can be a challenge and we appreciate your patience and your support.
