Title of article (in quotation marks): "chemical blast in spain"

Title of newspaper (underlined or italicized):

Essay Author: The associated press

Date of Publication: Feb. 12, 2015

Essay main idea/thesis statement: In this article it gives an overview of the particular problem going on right now in spain. The problem of making education cuts angered many parents and students and they are trying to find a way to stop it.

Quote: "The Spanish authorities ordered residents of five northeastern towns to stay indoors for two hours Thursday after a chemical explosion at a warehouse spread a large, orange toxic cloud over the area.A spokeswoman for Catalonia′s regional firefighting department, who spoke on condition of anonymity because of department rules, said the blast occurred when products being delivered to a warehouse in the city of Igualada became mixed, exploded and set a truck on fire. She said two people were slightly injured."

Comment: In this article, The spokeswoman said the explosion happened during a delivery and that they were unaware of what was going on. With the spokeswoman's opines we have some quality insight on what went on at that time. I agree with the spokeswoman because it clearly was an accident, but in the making two people managed to get hurt.

Title of article (in quotation marks): "Education cuts met with strike in Spain."

Title of newspaper (underlined or italicized):

Essay Author: Raphael Minder

Date of Publication: May 22, 2014

Essay main idea/thesis statement: This article comes across as a very intriguing one. It shows how places around the world struggle with education and taxes. we come to realize that we can not take everything for granted and be appreciative of our education that we have.

Quote: On Tuesday, Spanish teachers went on strike in cities across the country by the thousands, seeking to defend the education sector against a package of spending cuts — €10 billion, or $12.7 billion — approved last week by Parliament as part of the government’s plan to meet its more stringent budget targets. The strike was the first ever coordinated by Spain’s five main teachers’ unions, across the whole of the state education sector, from nursery school to university. While the unions claimed that 80 percent joined the strike, the government put the level at 19.4 percent.

Comment: In the article, The writer states that teachers and students were very angry in this situation. They gave us a quality insight on the situation and peoples reactions. I would be angry as well, so therefore i do agree with the teachers and students. Why make cuts in the education department if the children are our future?

Dear Owner,

My name is Jake A. Hernandez, and I am a Sophmore at Cardinal Newman High school. Recently we have been assigned to study a certant country so I chose Spain. We have been studying the problems going on in our countries and doing a lot of other interactive activities. The problem I read about in Spain was between a young man and priest. It would be great If i could possibly get your opinion on this topic, it would really mean a lot !

In the article, written by Raphael Minder, It gives us a detailed look on what happened in spain very recently. David Ramírez Castillo first met his parish priest, the Rev. Román Martínez, as a 7-year-old catechism student. Later, he became one of his altar boys. “What started as afternoon visits after Mass turned into overnight stays and weekends away in a shared bed, including at the Summit, a private hilltop villa complete with a swimming pool.” he says. Now 25 years old, he claims that he was repeatedly abused by Father Martínez or made to watch him and others, including several priests, have sex over three years, starting in 2004 when he was 14. In the end Roman Martinez and 10 other priest were fired and proven guilty of abuse. It is such a tragic story and to know that such a thing is going on in the world is terrible to think about.

I have a huge concern for this young man because he was fgone alot and no one even bothered to check in with him. These priest probably scard this man for life and that the exact opposite of what a priest is supposed to do.

I hope you see the problem within this story and if you can repy and give me your feedback that would be awesome. Thank you so much for reading and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely ,

Jake Hernandez
