15th Century Marriage

Gloria, Mia, Retha

Wedding clothes were the finest outfits the soon-to-be wed would ever wear. Wedding bands were worn on the third finger on your right hand. Rings could be plain, or inscribed with quotes of love on the inside of the ring and the outside.

This is what a marriage ceremony would look like from the 15th Century.

Grooms could be up to 14 years older then their bride. Brides could be as young as 13 or 14.  The bride had to be a virgin to wed. The bride and groom chose to give each other three gifts. The best man of the wedding was the best swordsmen the groom could find.

The wedding was very public. All residents could watch the wedding.

The brides party would fight the grooms party in a duel before the wedding.
