Who They Are

   If you are a single mother who needs a community resource of support, education, and hope, Hilliard House will help you focus on finding a house in order to move your family forward. This organization was established for this

How they Help

    Hilliard House is designed to address the needs of the family with community life, programming and an experienced, caring staff. The residents of Hilliard House engage in discussions on topics such as job training, education, communication and conflict resolution, and budgeting and money management. Their service believes that helping families and making sure they have a permanent house and giving them employment. Hilliard House organized mentoring program about reading, education, entertainment and social activities that can be done be engaged by the mothers and their kids.

Amy's Story

Amy has been a resident of Hilliard House for three years. She didn't have a job to support her kids, and she wasn't getting the help she needed from Social Services. During her stay at Hilliard House, she finally had a permanent, and stable job that she could use to support her children. She says that  the Housing Case Manager, Child Services Coordinator, Financial Counselor, and all of the staff at Hilliard helped her, and prepared her for the outside world. Today, Amy can live in her own house and give her children a life they deserve.

Fun Facts!

  1. Hilliard House was established in 2001 to decrease the percent of homeless women and their children.
  2. Hilliard House recently housed 31 Richmond families in 100 days because of the National Alliance to End Homelessness project.
  3. Hilliard House helps reduce the cost of evictions, and minimizes the use of community homeless services

How YOU Can Help

You can make a difference too! Hilliard House has a center in which you can donate things to this organization. You can donate clothing, food, furniture, and household goods! You can also volunteer to help  women and kids every step of the way! They accept money donations that you can donate online, by mail, or in person. If you don't know what to give them, you can go online to their website and check out their wish list.
