Thunderstorms are formed from cumulus clouds that float across the sky. when moist air comes contact with a the ground that has been heated by the sun. Contact with the ground warms the moist air. The water then evaporates into the atmosphere. Eventually the rising air turns into water droplets. The water gas turns back into a liquid this process is called condensation. The water vapor forms water droplets. these droplets are held up by the rising air mass. the rising air becomes visible as a cloud. These clouds can grow into a huge cumulonimbus clouds. There can be 40,000 thunderstorms each day according to nssl.noaa.gove/primer.
