Describing & Interpreting Photographs
Get started by viewing the 4-minute video below or click here to read the transcript.
Unit 2 opens your mind to the vast and diverse world of photography and begins to cultivate beginning visual analysis skills for this class. The key skills you will acquire in this unit are how to differentiate between a description and an interpretation. These skills will be refined throughout the rest of this class and are key to your success.
By the end of this Learning Unit, you will be able to:
- Evaluate the subjective nature of photographic meaning through a discussion of your experiences participating in last week's online ice breakers.
- Demonstrate a basic ability to verbally apply the concepts of interpretation and description to photographic images.
- Demonstrate the ability to write and share a blog post in Ning.
Open the Learning Unit 2 "Content & Activities" folder to begin your reading and activities for this week. You have lots to do and learn -- I'll be leaving "Feedback" in the VoiceThread this Friday or Saturday so comment before then if you'd like to receive personalized feedback from me.
