About Hugh Vanderspek
In his free time, Hugh Vanderspek enjoys sailing and sailboat racing. He is a member of the Mission Bay Yacht Club, where he served as commodore in 2008, and the Fairhope Yacht Club. The company maintains its injury rate at less than one-third of the industry average, and it recently delivered a new ship to the U.S. Navy, the USS America.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Vanderspek was a general manager at BAE Systems San Francisco Ship Repair, where he accessed more than $6 million in funding to install a shore power system, working closely with the Port of San Francisco. He also upgraded the facility, allowing for the accommodation of large cruise ships.
