3-D Object Description

The theme of the this book is to accept life as it is. Sometimes we have to watch things we don't like, but once it's over you'll have the opportunity to make changes. The main character Deet had to watch his parents struggle and so much more, but with his intelligence and bravery; he'll have the power to make something of himself.

In the brave and consoling book, "Do Not Pass Go", the author conveys that staying positive about a negative situation will produce an even better outcome. The song that relates to this story is titled "Nature Boy" by Nat King Cole. In the story Deet says "They spent money on things they didn't need and sometimes they didn't have enough to buy what they did need...And it wasn't just money, it was planning and organization that got messed up." He was angry towards his parents because they weren't supporting the family as well as they should've. The song describes a wise boy who only wants to be loved. Deet was a boy who wasn't outgoing, but he wanted to be appreciated by his parents for his work ethic and everything he did for his family as a whole.

There was a boy

They say he wandered very far, very far,
A little SHY
And SAD of eye,
But very wise, VERY WISE was he...

Until one day,
ONE LUCKY day he passed my way,
And while we talked of many things
Fools and kings,
This he said to me:
"The greatest thing
YOU'LL ever learn
Is just to love
And be loved
In return."
