William Shakespeare

Timeline

1. Birth: April 23, 1564

2. 1582 - Married Anne Hathaway

3. 1583 and 1585 - Childbirth, has a daughter and twins.

4. 1590 - Writes his first play, Henry VI - Part One

5. 1593 - Begins writing Sonnets

6. 1599 - Globe Theater was built where his most famous plays were performed.

7. 1609 - Most famous Sonnets published.

8. Death: April 23, 1616

Accomplishments

  • Wrote 154 sonnets and 37 plays in his lifetime.
  • Made some of the most famous plays such as Romeo and Juliet, Hamlet, and a Midsummer's Night Dream
  • Most all of Shakespeare's sonnets and plays were all published and are still being performed and read today.
  • He changed and invented new words in his writing, and his new vocabulary is still being used today.
  • Shakespeare had a great influence on the world today. He influenced literature and people are still studying his work.

Martin Luther

Timeline

1. Born - November 10, 1483

2. 1498 - Attends a parish school in Eisenach.

3. 1505 - Gets caught in a thunderstorm and vows to become a monk.

4. 1507 - Becomes an ordained priest.

5. 1517 - Posts the 95 Theses on the castle church door.

6. 1521 - Excommunicated from Rome

7. Death - February 18, 1546

Accomplishments

  • Martin Luther made the 95 Theses critizing the Catholic Church and hung them on the door of the church in Wittenberg.
  • He was the leader of the Protestant Reformation.
  • Founded Lutheranism.
  • Martin Luther translated the Old and New Testament into German.
  • Martin Luther went against the Catholic Church and influenced religions throughout Europe.

Leonardo da Vinci

Timeline

1. Born - April 15, 1452

2. 1472 - Accepted into the painters' guild of Florence.

3. 1482 - Becomes a painter and engineer for the duke of Milan.

4. 1495 - Begins painting "The Last Supper," but does not finish the painting until 1498.

5.  1503 - Paints the "Mona Lisa."

6. 1516 - The King of France invites Leonardo to work for him.

7. Death - May 2, 1519

Accomplisments

  • Leonardo da Vinci had many more talents beside  painting, such as botany, anatomy, optics, music, architecture, and engineering.
  • Invented new weapons used for war, such as a triple barrel cannon and a giant crossbow.
  • He created some of the most famous paintings, such as the Mona Lisa and The Last Supper
  • Blueprints were found for flying machines (like helicopters) that were made by Leonardo da Vinci
  • Leonardo da Vinci was given access to dead bodies at the hospital to dissect and understand how the body works.
