About Institute of World Politics
Based in the political capital of the nation, Washington, D.C., The Institute of World Politics was established in 1990 by Dr. John Lenczowski to educate graduate students in statecraft, a concept that considers the conducting of the affairs of state an art form that requires different skills, such as political action, military power, and peacemaking. Studying principles based in the Western moral tradition and the American political economy, The Institute of World Politics prepares students for positions within the government in defense, intelligence, and foreign affairs.
After witnessing an lack of understanding of the arts of statecraft among government employees, Dr. Lenczowski founded the Institute, where graduate and professional students can earn one of three Master’s degrees or one of several certificates of graduate study. Additionally, the Institute's career services office advises and supports students as they pursue jobs with government agencies and contractors. Among its students, the Institute has also trained military officers in such disciplines as stability operations and counterinsurgency.
