To Build A Fire
What lesson might be learned from reading this story?
The lesson that I might learn from this story is to not go out into temperatures sub zero or rapidly dropping temperatures without at least one more person with me. I don't want to go out into sub zero temperatures because I could regret not having a trail-mate with me. "If he had only had a trail-mate he would have been in no danger now. The trail-mate could have built the fire." Another lesson that I learned is to not build a fire under a tree in the snow. I shouldn't build a fire under a tree in the snow because "High up in the tree one bough capsized its load of snow. This fell on the boughs beneath capsizing them. The process continued, spreading out and involving the whole tree. It grew like an avalanche, and it descended without warning upon the man and the fire". I learned these two lessons from the story.
