About  Cuba

The Flag- This is Cubas flag, the three horizontal blue lines represent the three old divisions of the island.The white bands represent the purity of their independance , the color red represents the blood shed / pain felt to get their independance and last but not least is the white star which is called the La Estrella Solitaria and it "lights the way to freedom".

Cuba's capital is Havana which is located 23.1333° N, 82.3833° W or on the left side of Cuba.

Language- Cubans mainly speak spanish, or as they would say Los cubanos hablan principalmente español.

Location- geologically Cuba is apart of North America but geographically it is an island therefore it doesn't belong to a continent , some countries that are fairly close are the Cayman Islands , USA , Jamaica , and Haiti.  All of these are shown on the map of Cuba above.

Clothing- Typically women wear short skirts tight jeans , and lots of colors.  Men wear jeans, cotton pants, and a t shirt .

Major Bodies of Water- Surrounding Cuba is the Caribean Sea , Gulf of Mexico , and the North - Atlantic ocean.  Bodies of water within Cuba are Guantanamo Bay  and Cauto.(Shown on the map of Cuba).

Religions- Cuban's main religion is Roman Catholic which  consumes 60% of  modern - day Cuba ,following that is Non-religious people which is 24% of their country, next is Others/African Religions which is 11% of Cuba , and last is Protestantism and other Christians which is 5% of Cuba's religion.

Government- Cuba has a communist government whose rulers are Raul Castro and Fidel Castro, who broke a promise once made stating that there would be no more dictators ruling in Cuba

Major Landmarks - Some other major landmarks are the Morro Castle , Old Havana, and Baconao.

Music- Cubans often listen to "son" and salsa. Listening to music is almost its own tradition because this s one of the most popular every - day games/ activities.

Major Bodies Of Water- The largest body of water in Cuba is Laguna de Leche which measures at a size of 67.2 km2 or 25.9 sq mi. , the second largest body of water in Cuba is the Zaza Reservoir, which size is 113.5 km2 43.8 sq mi.

Holidays- Some holidays that Cubans celebrate are Triumph of the Revolution or as Cubans would say Triunfo de la Revolución (Jan 1) , and Victory of Armed Forces Day or Día de Victoria de las Fuerzas Armadas (Jan 2).

Major Landforms - Cuba is mostly flat with few hills and their coastal areas are most mountainous.

Currency- Cuba's currency is the Cuban pesos. The exchange rate of pesos-to-U.S.-dollars is 26.50.

Recipe-

  1. Preheat oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C).
  2. In a medium saucepan over medium-low heat, melt sugar until liquefied and golden in color. Carefully pour hot syrup into a 9 inch round glass baking dish, turning the dish to evenly coat the bottom and sides. Set aside.
  3. In a large bowl, beat eggs. Beat in condensed milk, evaporated milk and vanilla until smooth. Pour egg mixture into baking dish. Cover with aluminum foil.
  4. Bake in preheated oven 60 minutes. Let cool completely.
  5. To serve, carefully invert on serving plate with edges when completely cool

Other Foods- Some ingredients often found in Cuban food are onion , garlic ,  Black beans ,and sugarcane.

This is el capitolio and is located in Havana Cuba. This is the capital building of Cuba , el capitolio was made May 20, 1929.
Cuba's estimated population is 11,241,1618. Hvana (the capital) is one of the must populated cities within Cuba.

Economy-Cuba is a poor nation with a struggling economy.  Some of their exports are sugar, tobacco, fish, and coffee.  Some of Cuba's imported goods are petroleum, food, and machinery/equipment. The currency that is used in Cuba is the Cuban peso (CUP).

This is Cuba's national baseball team.

Entertainment- Cuba is quite poor so they cant afford to buy computers and board games and certain toys that are quite common in America .Cuban kids love anything to do with music ,dancing .or sports. The kinds of sports that the kids play are soccer better known as football , baseball , boxing , and basketball.also some popular movies right now are "Chocolate Strawberries", and "Vampires in Havana".
