About Jack Caynon
With a background in law and health care administration that extends more than two decades, Jack Caynon leads a Mattapoisett, Massachusetts, health law consulting firm. Prior to establishing his current company, he led Southcoast Health System in New Bedford as senior vice president and general counsel. Jack Caynon oversaw legal affairs for the $750 million integrated three-hospital system and helped ensure that the board and corporation were protected through a conflict-of-interest protocol he developed.
Mr. Caynon completed his bachelor’s degree in management studies summa cum laude at the University of Maryland and pursued a juris doctor at Yale Law School. He was an associate with a Stamford, Connecticut, law firm in the early 1990s and subsequently joined Roper St. Francis Healthcare in Charleston, South Carolina, as vice president of legal affairs and general counsel. Mr. Caynon served at two other health institutions before joining Salem Health in 2005. As its vice president and general counsel, he managed the implementation of a company compliance program and decreased outside legal costs significantly.
