About James Brown Baldwin Middle School

James Brown, Ed.D., holds nearly two decades of experience as an academic administrator in the state of New York; his most recent career history includes serving in the community of Baldwin, New York as founding principal at Hastings Academy and principal at Baldwin Middle School. Over the course of his eight years at Baldwin Middle School, he spearheaded the implementation of digital learning programs and restructured teaching methods to allow teachers to provide a higher level of individual attention to students. Prior to establishing his career with Baldwin Middle School, James Baldwin worked in Brooklyn, New York, as principal at Mahalia Jackson Middle School and co-principal at Jackie Robinson Middle School. Beyond his experience in administration, he is also an accomplished teacher of mathematics. At the college level, he currently serves as at Adelphi University as an adjunct professor.

James Brown holds a master’s degree in elementary education from the City University of New York-Hunter College and a doctor of education in educational leadership from Dowling College. Throughout the course of his career as an educator and administrator, he has held a commitment to advancing educational opportunities for youth who are underprivileged. For example, he volunteers as a mentor to black male high school students at a local, low-performing school.
