Pocahontas Area Boys Basketball
On Tuesday January 20th the Indians picked up a victory over the South Central Calhoun Titans. The Indians had their best defensive game statistically allowing the Titans to only 31 points. Austin Roetman paced the Indians with 23 points, Tanner Youngberg(13) and Aaron Aljets(12) also scored in double figures for the Indians. With the 59-31 victory the Indians advanced to an overall record of 9-3.
On January 22nd the Indians suffered a 42-70 defeat at the hands of the Algona Bulldogs. The game was close at the end of the first quarter with the Bulldogs leading by just five points. But, after the second period began the Bulldogs took control of the game and never looked back. Tanner Youngberg led the Indians with 17 points, Ryan Grebner was the next highest scorer with 8. After the loss to Algona the Indians had an overall record of 9-4.
On January 24th the Indians traveled to the All Iowa Attack Gym in Ames to take on South Hardin. The Indians played a great all around game and defeated South Hardin 62-49. Austin Roetman scored 19 points, while Tanner Youngberg chipped in 12. With the victory in Ames, the Indians surpassed their win total from the 2013/2014 season. The Indians record is 10-4.
On January 27th the Indians took their home court advantage to Pomeroy where they dominated the Southeast Valley Jaguars. The Indians used a great defensive effort to defeat the Jaguars 75-40. Tanner Youngberg and Austin Roetman each scored 20 points, while Aaron Aljets chipped in 10 points. Next up for the Indians is Storm Lake St. Marys on Friday, January 30th. The Indians now have an overall record of 11-4.
