About Jerry Couvaras
Jerry Couvaras fell into the food industry as an investment banker. Though he is currently based in the United States in Atlanta, Jerry Couvaras grew up in Johannesburg, South Africa, where he studied economics and political science at the University of Witwatersrand.
In the early 1990s, Jerry Couvaras moved to Atlanta, which he discovered offered the perfect backdrop for a new food business due to its accessibility and geography. Unlike other prime cities, Atlanta was flat with no mountains or oceans to hinder expansion. The executive purchased a small sandwich shop in 1995 and soon launched Atlanta Bread International, a franchise setup that has grown to incorporate more than 150 locations in 24 states. Couvaras serves as president and CEO of the company and works to ensure all locations promote his same vision of a premier bakery experience.
