Life & Education

George Tsypin was born on the 31 of December 1954 in Kazakhstan. For education he went to New York University and studied, american stage design, 3D art and architecture. His first personal gallery show took place in 1991 at Twining Gallery in New York. He then went one and created the Planet Earth Gallery. Which was one of the Millennium Projects in England. The gallery had major moving architectural elements, videos and 200 sculptures. In 2002 George exhibited his work in the Venice Biennale.

Career in the Theatre

George Tsypin worked for years with renowned directors. Such as Peter Sellars, Julie Taymor, John Adams and more. He designed many sets for operas all over the world. he worked in all the major theatre in the USA. His first set design for a broadway was for the Little Mermaid musical. Since then he has made a set for the musical Spider-Man Turn off the dark. This set was so amazing that he was nominated and won a Tony Award for Best Scenic Design,Drama Desk Award for Outstanding Set Design of a Musical. Now George Tsypin is working on Sea Glass Carousel at Battery park in New York.
