About Jim Amos Sony
Jim Amos, president of domestic distribution for Sony Pictures, earned his bachelor of science degree from Babson College in Wellesley, Massachusetts, in 1983. Beginning his career as a sales trainee for the Boston branch of Columbia Pictures, he advanced quickly to sales representative before becoming sales manager for regions including San Francisco, Los Angeles, Detroit, and Cleveland. Columbia Pictures became Tri-Star Pictures, and Jim Amos became district manager of the western division. When Tri-Star Pictures became Sony Pictures, he became district manager for the eastern division. Prior to his current position, he served the company as division manager and senior VP of distribution of the eastern division.
With over 25 years in the film industry, Mr. Amos has contributed to the success of more than 50 films grossing over $100 million, including Hitch, Men in Black, Ghostbusters, As Good As It Gets, Hancock, Karate Kid, Casino Royale, Quantum of Solace, and the Spider-Man trilogy.
