About the Publisher

My name is Max Munoz and I am a 6th grade student at Holman Middle School in Henrico County near Richmond, VA. My class is doing a project on biographies, and we were tasked with making a website on a famous person of our choice. Not only did we need to include information about our famous person from 3 sources, but we also needed to have an interactive element. My website is about Jim Carrey. Enjoy!

Jim Carrey's most famous roles over the years

Description Paragraph:
Childhood

Jim Carrey poses it up for a childhood photo

James Eugene Carrey was born into a poor family on January 17, 1962, in Newmarket, Canada. He had grown up wanting to be a comedian, and started making jokes at age 7. He became very confident that he would end up a rich and famous comedian. He became so confident, that at age 10, he sent a resume to Carol Burnett. She never responded. Although he had a path of success through comedy, he was failing academically, and did not have any friends. Because of this, he often had to utilize his developing comedic talent to get friends. At age 13, he attempted his first stand-up act and was booed off stage. Determination was never out of the question.

Cause and Effect Paragraph:
The Big Break and Recent Years

Possibly Jim Carrey's most iconic character on In Living Color, Fire Marshall Bill was definitely the most famous

In 1983, Carrey moved to Los Angeles where he became friends with Damon Wayans, which landed him a role on the show In Living Color, a sketch comedy that ran from 1990 to 1994. In a particular sketch, Jim played Fire Marshall Bill, a Fire Marshall who would explain the dangers of fire, and would often start them to prove his point. The role really showed Carrey's range of ability, and he started getting letters from film executives who wanted him in their movies. In 1994 alone, he starred in three different movies; Ace Ventura: Pet Detective, Dumb and Dumber, and The Mask. In that same decade, he starred in The Cable Guy, Liar Liar, The Truman Show, Man on the Moon, and a sequel to one of his classics, Ace Ventura: When Nature Calls. In the 2000s, he starred in The Grinch, Me, Myself, and Irene, The Majestic, Bruce Almighty, Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, A Series of Unfortunate Events, Fun with Dick and Jane, Yes Man, Horton Hears a Who, A Christmas Carol, Mr Popper's Penguins, and another sequel, Dumb and Dumber To.

Compare/Contrast Paragraph:
Will Ferrell and Jim Carrey

Jim takes a picture with Will Ferrell at the set of Talladega Nights: The Ballad of Ricky Bobby

As famous as Jim Carrey had gotten, some other comedians rival his popularity. One other comedian that is extremely popular is Will Ferrell. Will Ferrell has played characters such as Buddy the Elf, Ron Burgundy, and Ricky Bobby, while Jim Carrey is known for roles like Ace Ventura, Lloyd Christmas, and Fire Marshall Bill. Jim Carrey would use his creativity and rubber face to make crowds fall out of their chairs without saying a single word. Will Ferrell would use his creativity by showing up to interviews in character. Jim grew up poor, and Will grew up not wanting to be in showbiz. While they both had their differences, they were also very similar in some ways. Both used funniness to get friends, both had children, and both got their start on comedy sketch shows

Chronological Paragraph:
Jane Carrey

Like father, like daughter! Jim and Jane Carrey smile for a picture.

Jim has one daughter, Jane Carrey, who was born in 1987, before he had even become famous. Jim had Jane with Melissa Womer, who he divorced in 1995. Jane felt she had showbiz in her blood, and in 2012 auditioned to American Idol, although she did not win, oddly due to stage fright. In 1998, Jim got a star on the Canadian Walk of Fame, and he brought Jane with him to put his hand print in. In the cement he wrote Merrily Merrily Merrily…, in which the three dots were made by Jane's thumbprint. Life is but a dream, indeed.

Classic Jim
