Igneous rocks are magma that cools and forms into a solid. There are over 700 types of igneous rocks. Some examples are granite, gabbro, and diorite. Also, Igneous rocks form when hot liquid elements cool and solidify into crystals. The crystals that form are rich in the elements silicon and oxygen. By far the most abundant elements comprising Earth's crust and mantle.
