In the beginning the game the army and the wealthy had the power, about 2 months in the USA took over control of Guatemala. The USA forced the army and wealthy to either be in their army or die. Guatemala could not really do anything because the USA could easily kill them if they did not do what they wanted them to do. So they had to do whatever they said.
2.How the balance of power shifted and why?
The balance of power shifted between the government, army and wealthy, and the USA. The army and wealthy had the power originally and then the USA came along and took over Guatemala. The USA did this because they can do whatever they want, because they are the most powerful nation in the world.

There was conflict between the USA and Guatemala. The USA came in and with no cooperation took over the country. There was cooperation between the government and the peasants. The government wanted to work with the peasants because they had double votes and they wanted the votes for the election.
4.What role did the US have on the simulation?
The USA had a huge role in the game because they took over Guatemala. There wouldn't have been to much power shifts if the USA wasn't in the game. This game shoes that the USA is unfair in other people eyes because they can do whatever they want to do. The USA made the army and wealthy to join their army or die.
5.What happens to a country when power shifts, is the effect positive or negative?
It depends on who the power shifted to. When the power shifted to the USA it was bad for the people in Guatemala. It was bad for them because they had to obey what the USA told them to do, as in join their army. If the power shifted from the USA back to Guatemala, then it would be good because they would be back in control.
6. Apply this information to YOUR LIFE! What relationships do you have in your life, how are cooperation and conflict evident? Provide a minimum of 2 examples.
Just what like the USA did to Guatemala, my parents can do to me in a way. Guatemala had to choice, the USA came in and just took over. My parents can tell me to do my chores or I'm grounded. That is similar to the USA saying join our army or your going to die. My parents and I can also cooperate by saying if you do your chores you can go out. That is how my parents and I can have conflict and cooperation.
