The Rwandan Genocide.
Imagine that you were in a country were people were looking for you, your family, and everyone like you just to kill you. Imagine that your the only one that survived the horrible genocide and you have nightmares every night and slowly forget your mother and your father's face. This is what the victims of the Rwandan genocide had to face.
But why did this horrible thing happen? Its because the hatred between two clans, the Tutsi and the Hutu. But why did they hate each other? Because of power. Before this genocide, hutus and tutsis had their own purpose, Tutsis had the job to take care of cattle and Hutus had the job of tilling the soil. Germany took over Rwanda, but after World War One the power was given to Belgium. Tutsis were the dominate clan because their king was a tutsi, but after Belgium took over they gave power to Hutus and that pissed of a lot of Tutsis. Soon there were killings between each clan and most people had to evacuate Rwanda and they left to Uganda, but Uganda was ruled over by murderous dictators so it wasn't exactly "Home Sweet Home." While Tutsis were evacuating Rwanda's economy was dysfunctional and farmers lost their income.
Rwanda was quiet full of fear for the Hutus, and they were scared that the tutsis were going to kill them. They were saying that those nasty cockroaches were going to kill your children, take your land and turn you into slaves. Meanwhile i Uganda, Tutsis wanted to go home and wanted a final resolution. On April 6, 1994 the Hutu president was shot down and that pissed of a lot of Hutus and then the day after the Genocide started.
An estimate of 800,000 innocent Tutsis were killed in the Genocide. Some were Hiding and were found and some were saved by Hutus and survived the 100 day Genocide. Tutsis would be raped, tortured and obviously killed. The United Nations surprisingly did nothing about it even though they were an organization that stops war and violence. When everything seemed hopeless the RPF saved the Tutsis and the Genocide ended.
