Going to Haiti
Serving & Ministering to the people in Haiti
Joe Boyle is going to Haiti
Hi! I, Joe Boyle, am planning on going to Jeremie, Haiti this August. We will be traveling to Haiti from August 18 - August 26th!
What are you doing in Haiti?
During our week-long trip we will be working with Haiti Bible Mission (haitibiblemission.org) and will focus on serving and supporting several local churches and schools in and around Jeremie. The purpose of our trip is two fold:
2) To allow God to work in our lives through the exciting and challenging experiences that comes from this type of mission trip.
Our short-term mission team will work alongside Haitian
pastors and their churches in ministering to children, youth and
families through teaching, sports, and construction as well as
specialized ministry to men, women and children.
The needs in Haiti vary quickly on a day-to-day basis and within the day! Our energy will be focused on what is the most urgent need.
Who are you going with?
A local church near Cleveland, Ohio called, Renew Communities. As mentioned above, Renew Communities is and has been partnering with Haiti Bible Mission.
You invited me to this page. Why?
I invited you to this website because I am seeking your help in two primary ways. Prayer and / or financial assistance.
A friend of mine said it this way, "Prayer is the catalyst that will allow us to be successful as we follow God's leading in ministry in this beautiful but desperately impoverished country."
I think everyday our actions, plans and thoughts for the day should be taken before God. That we would please him, remember his grace, and that all of our thoughts & actions would be done out of a remembrance of his love for us and our love for others.
Haiti is no different. In fact, I think "special" trips like these that are different than the mundane, illicit just as much prayer and probably more given the unique opportunity they commonly are compared to the "day to day".
A couple reasons:
1) Traveling ain't free. The trip costs about $1,500 between traveling costs and supplies for the trip.
2) The Haitians could use any extra money we can give them. Whatever amount is donated above the $1,500 will be used for a specific project while we are there.
3) It's another opportunity to involve yourself with aiding others around the world.
Many people ( I'm hoping this is you! ) want to help and be involved in something like this but don't have the time or the money to do it all themselves but would love to be involved. That's why I wanted to create this page and give you information and the invitation to be involved!
Help by Donating
There are a couple different ways you can give. See below for the options!
July 21st is the deadline!
1) Mail a check.
Here is the address where you can send it:
PO Box 104
Berea, OH 44017
Make the checks out to "Renew Communities" and please send along a note or write in the memo field, "Boyle - Haiti Support" That way we know who is supporting whom!
2) Give online.
To give online go to this address: http://renewcommunities.onthecity.org/give
Once you are there, click the "Continue to Online Giving" button on the left hand side of the page. From here on out fill in all the pertinent information ( Name, Email, etc. ).
Under the "Select a Fund" drop down menu choose, "Haiti Support".
Then under Comments please type "Boyle Haiti Support".
3) You can give me the money.
But again please remember to make your checks out to "Renew Communities" so it is tax deductible.
Help by Praying
If you're the praying type, here are a couple things I'll be praying about. Join in with these or whatever else comes to mind!
1) That our team would be effective in serving the people there in very practical ways.
2) That the people we interact with will again see the love that Christ has for them through our service and conversations. That lives would be forever changed. :)
Thank you for considering to a be part of this with me! Please let me know if you want to join in on the efforts that are going on in Haiti through prayer, finance or both!
