John Balent - Philanthropist and Sports Enthusiast
John Balent graduated from Pepperdine University with his juris doctor and began practicing family law in 1976. He provided expert legal counsel to clients in Brea, California, and its surrounding areas for 18 years before he opened his own office, where he currently handles all aspects of family law, from divorce mediation to step-parent adoptions. Together with his expert team, John Balent diligently works to ensure clients are regularly updated about their case, and that they receive the best representation possible.
Outside of his professional pursuits, John Balent is an avid philanthropist. He founded the Soup Kitchen of the Placentia Presbyterian Church in 1989, and has managed it since then. The soup kitchen feeds community members who are homeless and hungry every week, and provides a Thanksgiving meal each year. He also built roofs in New Orleans after Hurricane Katrina as part of a work project sponsored by Presbyterian Disaster Relief. Additionally, he has helped Fishers of Men and is active in the El Sauzal Orphanage.
In his free time, John Balent enjoys mountain biking and surfing. When he was younger, he participated in various triathlons in Baja Mexico and southern California. He also enjoys watching sports, and is a dedicated UCLA football fan, having attended nearly every UCLA vs. USC game over the past four decades. He is a fan of the Los Angeles Dodgers baseball team, and regularly attends the team’s opening games with a group of friends.
