Artist, Producer, and Social Entrepreneur
An artist, producer, and social entrepreneur, John Michael Schert is the first Visiting Artist and Social Entrepreneur at the University of Chicago Booth School of Business. He enlightens students about how creative persons can use their abilities to enhance other industries. Moreover, he teaches them how to transform their adeptness in the creative process into something valuable that can also contribute to communities. Part of the school since 2013, John Michael Schert also spent the fall of 2014 as an Associate Fellow at the newly-founded New York University Center for Ballet and the Arts.
Before entering teaching, he spent nearly a decade as the executive director of Trey McIntyre Project (TMP). Also its cofounder, he developed the organization to honor the voice of artist Trey McIntyre. Based in Boise, Idaho, the organization received funding from patrons in 40 states, as well as grants from ArtPlace and Dance/USA’s Engaging Dance Audiences, while serving as the City of Boise's first Economic Development Cultural Ambassador.
John Michael Schert has been honored by Boise Young Professionals with the Young Leader of the Year Award and the Idaho Business Review as one of the "40 Accomplished Under 40."
