Scotch Plains Youth Soccer Referee and Golf Teacher

About John Turnbull Scotch Plains

A longtime New Jersey resident, John Turnbull referees youth soccer matches throughout the year and instructs golf. He teaches and leads a number of summer golf camps in Union County each year. John Turnbull’s current activities build on extensive experience coaching Scotch Plains high school teams and creating and implementing recreational sports programs.

As an assistant golf professional at Shackamaxon Country Club for eight years, Mr. Turnbull helped oversee daily operations and directed instruction and clinic offerings. He also purchased and marketed merchandise to club guests and members. He has two decades of past experience with the Scotch Hills Country Club as head golf professional and general manager. His achievements with the nine-hole municipal course included spearheading major course condition enhancements and directing banquet facility operations.

Mr. Turnbull was a respected golfer and Professional Golfers Association member throughout the 1990s; his athletic career was shortened when he developed bone cancer. An avid sports fan, he supports Chelsea FC in the Premier League and is a New Jersey Devils season ticket holder.
