Veteran Trader Jonathan Cattana Transitions to Investment Advising
A trader and portfolio manager for more than 10 years, financial adviser Jonathan Cattana worked early in his career as a senior trader for Advance Bank and Bankers Trust Australia. After heading the UBS Options and Futures Desk, he joined Salomon Smith Barney Financial Markets. Leading Salomon Smith Barney’s Derivatives and Futures division, Jonathan Cattana oversaw 25 traders and brokers, developed a clearing platform for Australian futures, and cultivated client relationships in Southeast Asia.
In the field of financial planning, Mr. Cattana has served as a financial adviser for National Australia Bank’s wealth management company MLC, where he consulted with major corporate superannuation clients throughout the country. He has more recently worked as an investment adviser for MD Phillips & Associates, as well as owned and directed the firm Avestra Private Wealth for nearly five years.
Currently, Jonathan Cattana serves as owner and CEO of the investment advisory Habit Financial in Sydney, Australia. As head of Habitus, he focuses on providing clients with wealth building strategies in the areas of self-managed superannuation funds (SMSF), diversified investments, and trust structures.
Mr. Cattana possesses a bachelor of business from the University of Canberra and a Masters of finance from the University of Technology Sydney. At Deakin University, he completed a diploma of financial planning. Along with maintaining membership in the Financial Planning Association, he holds SMSF Specialist Advisor designation from the SMSF Association.
