The Oil Spill

How I got the area of my shape. Well I know that for a rectangle or a square we are gonna do length times width. For any type of triangle you times length and width then you divide by 2. I had 2 triangles and 11 rectangles or squares. I also know that for every 1 cm it's 15 miles.

#1 2.5 times 2.5 = 6.25 miles

#2 3.5 times 4 = 49.miles

#3 3 times 1 = 3 divided by 2 = 1.5 miles

#4 3 times 3 = 9

#5 3.5 times 2.5 = 8.75 miles

#6 3 times 2 = 6 divided by 2 = 3

#7 6 times 2 = 12 miles

#8 3 times 2 = 6 miles

#9 2.5 times 3 = 7.5 miles

#10 2 times 1.5 = 3. miles

#11 6 times 2 = 12 miles

#12 3 times 1.5 = 4.5 miles

#13 2 times 1.5 = 3 miles

1. No, because you cant really tell when the lines are curved, but to help me get closer to the answer I drew a straight like to where i thought it ended and measured it that way.

2. I think my answers are pretty close. I don't expect them to be exact, because you had to measure curvy or wavy lines.
