USES AND PROPERTIES:
Before we get the big picture of Iron, we need the small details. Iron is located in group 8 and period 4 on the periodic table. It is unlikely to rust compared to other metals, but is still very easy to work with. You can bend and mold it in anyway you want, but not unless the Iron is heated up! The Melting point of Iron is 2,796.8 degrees Fahrenheit, and the boiling point is 5181.8 degrees Fahrenheit! That's why people use Iron pans for cooking, because the pan won't melt. Iron is superb conductor of heat and electricity, and is one of the most abundant elements in the universe.
Some other common uses for iron are kitchen appliances, surgical equipment, and in making coins. If you have a stainless steel fridge, that is iron and will not rust. Doctors use tools, like scalpels, to do surgery on people, and many coins, pennies, nickels, dimes, quarters, are all made with iron. Iron is a very helpful thing to live with and can keep us alive and well! You can use iron to cook, eat, get from one place to another, and most importantly, breath! Take iron on your adventure today!
I chose 5 stars for biological need because it carries the oxygen around our body, which we obviously need! I put four stars for social need because you need it to survive, which people will be willing to trade for, but it's not very good at defending you, so I only put one star for defensive need. I put 4 stars for functional need because it it is in helpful thinks, like steel, which is used for cars, bridges, etc..
