The Black death and how it affected Europe

The Black Death was a horrible pandemic that occurred in 1348 and killed 75 to 200 million people and it affected Europe in many ways. It was caused by Yersinia pestis bacterium. The Black Death came from merchant ships that contained rats. Rats and fleas took part in spreading the Black Death. Victims that have the Black Death will get lumps called buboes. They also have fever, headaches, the feeling of weakness, and chills. This affected Europe because it killed ⅓ of their population and it took 400 years for Europe to get back to its old population. The Black Death had a major effect on culture because writing and art almost came to a stop. Many people moved to cities to get a higher wage. This caused towns to grow and estates began to decline. The Black Death played a role in eliminating the system of feudalism. Also, the Black Death made many people in Europe believe that it was the end of the world.
