Julia's CPR Training Sheet:

Training Sheet for CPR unit:

CPR For the Adult and Child:

- CHECK THE SCENE

- CHECK THE PATIENT FOR RESPONSE BY TAPPING THE SHOULDERS

- CALL 911, OR HAVE SOMEONE ELSE CALL 911 FOR YOU

- BEGIN COMPRESSIONS 30 CHEST COMPRESSIONS IN BETWEEN THE NIPPLES AT LEAST 2 INCHES USING THE HEAL OF YOUR HAND.

       - CHILD DEPTH: 1/3 OF THE CHEST

       - ADULT DEPTH: 1 1/2 TO 2 INCHES OF THE CHEST

- FOLLOWED BY 2 BREATHS WITH THE NOSE PINCHED, AND THE HEAD TILTED BACK IF IT DOESN'T WORK RE-TILT THE HEAD AND ATTEMPT THE RESCUE BREATHS AGAIN.

- REPEAT COMPRESSIONS AND BREATHS UNTIL A PARAMEDIC ARRIVES AT THE SCENE.

CPR For the Infant:

- CHECK THE SCENE

- CHECK THE PATIENT FOR CONSCIOUSNESS BY TAPPING THEIR SHOULDERS AND FEET

- CALL 911 OR HAVE SOMEONE ELSE CALL 911 FOR YOU

- BEGIN CHEST COMPRESSIONS, 30 COMPRESSIONS BY USING YOUR INDEX AND MIDDLE FINGER IN BETWEEN THE NIPPLES.

-INFANT DEPTH: 1/3 OF THE CHEST

- ATTEMPT TWO RESCUE BREATHS WITH THE INFANTS HEAD TILTED UP, IF BREATHS DON'T TAKE RE- TILT THE HEAD AND RE- ATTEMPT BREATHS.

- REPEAT COMPRESSIONS AND REPEAT BREATHS UNTIL PARAMEDICS COME.

Consious Choking:

- ASK THE PATIENT IF THEY ARE OK

- IF THEY ARE UNABLE TO BREATH OR SPEAK CALL 911 AND BEGIN TREATING PATIENT

- BEGIN THE HEIMLICH MANEUVER: STAND BEHIND THE VICTIM, TUCK YOUR THUMB INTO A FIST, STAND BEHIND THE CHOKING PATIENT, PUT YOUR FIST JUST ABOVE THEIR BELLY BUTTON, WRAP YOUR OTHER HAND AROUND THE BACK OF YOUR FIST AND PULL IN AND UP UNTIL THE PATIENT GOES UNCONSCIOUS OR THE OBJECT COMES OUT.

Unconscious Choking for Adult, Child and Infant:

- LOWER THE PATIENT TO THE GROUND, LAY THEM FLAT

- ACTIVATE EMS, SEND SOMEONE TO CALL 911

- GIVE THE PATIENT 30 CHEST COMPRESSIONS

- OPEN THE AIRWAY AND CHECK THE MOUTH FOR A FOREIGN BODY, IF FOUND SWEEP OUT WITH YOUR PINKY FINGER.

- ATTEMPT RESCUE BREATHS, IF BREATHS DON'T TAKE RE-POSITION THEIR HEAD, AND RE- ATTEMPT RESCUE BREATHS

-IF VICTIM IS STILL UNCONSCIOUS AND NOT BREATHING NORMALLY, CONTINUE CPR (30 CHEST COMPRESSIONS FOLLOWED BY 2 RESCUE BREATHS)

- IF VICTIM VOMITS ROLL THEM ON THEIR SIDE, CLEAR THEIR AIRWAY, AFTER THE AIRWAY IS CLEARED ROLL THE VICTIM BACK AND CONTINUE CARE.

Conscious Choking for the Infant:

- CALL 911

- TAKE THE CONSCIOUS INFANT AND CRADLE IT'S HEAD IN ONE OF YOUR HANDS, LINE ITS BODY UP WITH YOUR ARM AND GIVE THE INFANT 5 BACK BLOWS

- GO INTO 30 CHEST COMPRESSIONS USING YOUR INDEX FINGER AND YOUR MIDDLE FINGER GOING 1/3 OF THE CHEST'S DEPTH.

- TILT THE INFANTS HEAD BACK AND ATTEMPT 2 RESCUE BREATHS, IF BREATH DOESN'T GO IN RE-TILT THE HEAD AND RE- ATTEMPT THE RESCUE BREATHS

- KEEP GIVING CPR UNTIL PARAMEDICS ARRIVE.

Arterial Bleeding:

- FIND THE WOUND, THEN IF THEY HAVE NO BONE FRACTURE APPLY STRONG, DIRECT PRESSURE TO THE BLEEDING AREA.

- APPLY BANDAGES WHILE KEEPING PRESSURE (IF THE ARTERIAL WOUND STARTS BLEEDING THROUGH THE BANDAGES APPLY MORE TO THE TOP, NEVER TAKE BANDAGES FROM THE BOTTOM.)

- ELEVATE THE INJURED PART OF THE BODY ABOVE THE HEART.

- WHILE KEEPING PRESSURE, APPLY BANDAGES STARTING AT THE AREA FARTHEST AWAY FROM THE HEART, THEN WORK YOUR WAY UP TO THE HEART AREA.  WHEN YOU GET TO THE TOP OF THE INJURED AREA MAKE A LITTLE TWIST TO THE BANDAGES TO ADD A LITTLE MORE PRESSURE.

- WHEN THE BANDAGE IS ON GOOD AND TIGHT CHECK FOR ANY LEAK THROUGH BLEEDING AND MAKE SURE TO CHECK THEIR CAPILLARY REFILL.

- ELEVATE INJURED PART ABOVE THE HEART AND ACTIVATE EMS.

- MAKE SURE THERE'S NO ARTERIAL BLEEDING IF THERE IS, APPLY MORE BANDAGES AND GAUZE AND THEN GET THE PATIENT TO THE HOSPITAL.
