Edgar Allen Poe
Edgar's writing was enthusiastic. He was adapted. In 1873 at age twenty-seven he married his first cousin Virginia who was thirteen. His reputation or his drinking kept the women from marrying him. In 1829 New Year's Day, Poe was mad a sergeant major, the highest rank for a non-commissioned officer. Like his father, Poe was destroyed by alcoholism. Poe died when he was just beginning to achieve his full power as a poet.
