Modern Day Prophet: Spencer West

Religious Calling

When Spencer West was five years old he lost his legs due to a genetic disorder. When this happened, he had to face the world in a completely different way. Everyday life became exceedingly difficult for Spencer, but he never let it defeat him. He knew that God had a plan for him, and that He would be with him on every step of his journey. He knew that God would want him to use his story to help others, so he uses his disability to encourage millions of people to power through rough times, face challenges, and embrace change.

His Mission

Spencer's mission is to inspire the lives of young people all over the world. His goal is to show kids that they are capable of succeeding in anything, as long as they believe in themselves. He preaches that each one of us can redefine what is possible. Spencer is a global speaker that has appeared in Kenya, Ghana, India, the United States and many other places to speak to the youth and inspire them. Spencer’s speeches offer tips and life lessons on how to find opportunity in every challenge, instilling hope and empowering people so that they can motivate others to create positive change. He shows people people that, even when the odds are completely against you, you can amount to something and make a difference.

1 Thessalonians 5:11 "Therefore encourage one another and build each other up, just as in fact you are doing." This shows that God wants us to spread encouraging words to each other. He wants people like Spencer to help others in loving themselves and having courage and faith in themselves and others around them.

2 Timothy 1:7 "For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline." This shows that God does not plan things for us that we cannot handle.  He knows that whatever life throws at us, we will be able to use it to our advantage in some way. Spencer West knows this and uses his disability to his advantage by instilling hope in children and empowering them to use their weaknesses as fuel to power a positive change.
