How The British Rule Was Bad For India
By- Llew Dortch
The British rule was bad for India in many different ways. The British shutdown Indian business by bringing their own products from Britain to sell in India. The British also did not let any Indians to be in the Indian government. The British rule forced more Indians to go into poverty. The British prevented the growth of the new Indian industry. The British segregated the city of Bengal into Muslim and Hindu sections in 1905. The British discontinued India trading on its own with other countries. India competition with British products was prohibited. The British took more raw materials from India because they had lost the U.S. in the civil war. Therefore, the British had to rely more on India. The British also made many Muslim and Hindu Sepoy very upset when they put pork and beef fat on the ends of the ammunition cartridges. To get the ammo out the soldiers had to bite the ends of the cartridge. Muslims did not eat pork and Hindus did not eat beef.
