My Top 5 Favorite Things About Cleveland
Going to school 3 hours away from home means I'm an excruciating 4 hours away from Cleveland. After living 45 minutes away for 18 years of my life, I can't help but miss that short drive up I-71 north. We might have mostly terrible sports teams, never ending construction, traffic that makes you want to pull your hair out, and a river thats notoriously known for catching on fire, but Cleveland will always be a part of who I am. These are my all-time top 5 favorite things about this city.
1) House of Blues
I can't even begin to count the amount of concerts I've been to at this venue. I've seen every one of my favorite bands live here at some point in my life. The tickets are cheap, the food is good, the venue is gorgeous, and the music is always perfection.
2) Progressive Field
Hot dog races. Dollar dog night. Slider. Firework shows. These are things only Cleveland fans will understand, even if they've only been to one Indians game in their life. I've been coming to this stadium since it was called The Jake. There's nothing I love more than sitting down with a hot dog and pop and watching my Indians play some ball.
From Big Fun, to The Grog Shop, to The Winking Lizard, there's something for everyone in Coventry. It's name pretty much says it all: its an ostracized oasis away from the city, but that's what make this little town so special. The vibes here are like nothing else you'll find in Cleveland. I could spend a whole day here and still not want to leave.
4) Lake Erie
Yes, it might smell like dead fish, but when you live no where close to the ocean, Lake Erie is a pretty good close second. It gives Cleveland that lake town feel. Huntington Beach is a great place to escape if you wanna feel like you're on vacation. C'mon look at that view. How can you not love it?
5) West Side Market
It's as gorgeous on the inside as it is on the outside. This indoor/outdoor market is one of the best places to get fresh food in Cleveland. I haven't been here in such a long time, I'm more than over due for a trip. Next time I'm home I'm making a stop here for sure.
Just writing about these places and thinking of the memories I hold is making me miss Cleveland more than ever. I can't wait until I'm home for the holidays so I can take a much needed trip to my favorite city. Cleveland Rocks!
