Input/Output Function Table

Doris Gil

**4.5 (B) **TLW represent problems using an input-output table and numerical expressions to generate a number pattern that follows a given rule representing the relationship of the values in the resulting sequence and their position in the sequence.

**The Teaser Hook**: TTW play a short video to spark interest and inspire inquiry about input/output lesson. Then TLW work in small groups of 3 to create an mini anchor chart to present to the class and show what they already know about the lesson.

**Props Hook**: TLW use real life objects such as toy cars to determine the input/output relationship/rule of the number of tires on a set number of cars and record the data on the function table.

**The People Prop ****Hook**: TLW use their arms to determine the input/output relationship/rule on a set number of people and record the data on a function table.

**The Prop Hook**: TLW use an image from a QR Code to figure out the relationship/rule of the input/output table and complete the data chart.

**Backwards Hook**: TLW figure out the pattern working backwards and using clues such as missing numbers to complete the function

**The Techno Whiz Hook**: TLW work in groups of 4 to create a game board power point such Jeopardy to present to the class and the class responds by answering the questions.
