About Kevin Strait
For over 30 years, Kevin Strait served as a science teacher at Mead High School in Spokane, Washington. His course responsibilities included teaching biology, physiology, human anatomy, chemistry, and environmental science. His teaching style helped students improve their analytical skills through group and independent projects. In addition to his work in the classroom, Kevin Strait led the Environmental Science Club. The club initiated a program that heightened the awareness of environmental issues and increased the amount of recycling done in the school. He also spent a decade as coach of the school’s women’s track and field program.
In preparation for his career, Kevin Strait earned an associate degree from Spokane Falls Community College. He subsequently attended Eastern Washington University and earned a BS in biology and a BA in education. After gaining professional experience, he returned to Eastern Washington University to earn a master’s degree in biology and education. As a graduate student, he composed a thesis that explored the impact of cooperative learning on long-term retention.
