NBA WESTERN CONFERENCE

Being an NBA player is only one of the many jobs in the world. It's probably the most entertaining as well. Today I'm going to speak on the playoff picture in the Western Conference of the NBA. And for those of you who don't know, NBA stands for the National Basketball Association. I could speak about both conferences, but my time is limited to only 5 minutes. Let's start with the 1st seed.

The Golden State Warriors are currently sitting in the top spot of the Western Conference. They have really turned their franchise around over the past few years. Stephen Curry and Klay Thompson, otherwise known as "The Splash Brothers", are the teams 2 best players. Under the guidance of new head coach Steve Kerr, the Warriors have a championship ring in sight.

Up next, the Houston Rockets. After signing free agent Josh Smith off waivers, the Houston Rockets have made lots of progress in the playoff race. James Harden, Dwight Howard, and Patrick Beverly have made Houston a force to be reckoned with. They are currently the 2nd seed in the West.

The Los Angeles Cilppers are looking as good as ever. With returning star Blake Griffin and Chris Paul steering the ship, this team could get deep into the playoffs. They are currently 3rd in the West.

Here come the Blazers! The Portland Trailblazers are the 4th seed in the West. They are led by the duo of Damian Lillard and LaMarcus Aldridge. This team started out hot this year and has only gotten hotter. Even though one of their best players in Wesley Matthews has been injured, the Blazers still look like a championship caliber team.

The Memphis Grizzlies are next on the list. Led by Mike Conley, Zach Randolph, and Marc Gasol, this Memphis team has a lot to look forward to in the postseason. The Grizzlies are currently in the 5th seed of the Western Conference playoff race. Like the Warriors and every other NBA team, the Grizzlies are hoping for a strong playoff push to get them to the Finals.

The San Antonio Spurs are the 6th seed in the NBA's Western Conference. Tim Duncan, Tony Parker, Kawhi Leonard, and Manu Ginobili are this team's star players. With one of the best coaches in the league in Gregg Popovich, the Spurs have a good chance in getting deep into the postseason.

Dallas Mavericks in the house! The Dallas Mavericks, my personal favorite team, are in the 7th seed in the Western Conference. Rajon Rondo, Monta Ellis, and Dirk Nowitzki are this teams big three. The Mavericks also acquired Chandler Parsons last offseason. Rajon Rondo was traded to Dallas for Brandan Wright, Jae Crowder, Jameer Nelson, and a first round draft pick. In my eyes, the Dallas Mavericks are going to go deep into the playoffs with Rick Carlisle leading the charge.

The New Orleans Pelicans barely squeezed into the 8th seed of the Western Conference. With their win against the Spurs, the Pels clinched the last playoff spot, pushing out Russell Westbrook and his Oklahoma City Thunder. With Anthony Davis leading them, they hope to upset the Golden State Warriors in the first round of the playoffs.
