Internet Safety

the internet is a great place,                                                but it can be dangerous, too.                                                                         how can we protect ourselves?

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Who are you really chatting with? Never give out any personal information online. (full name, address, passwords, email, card numbers, etc.)
The internet is a great place, but it can be overwhelming. If something you see online makes you uncomfortable, make sure to tell an adult!
Meeting with people you met online isn't something we usually recommend. If your parents allow it, be sure to go with an adult in a crowded setting.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What are you posting online? Unless discussed with your parents, don't post pictures of yourself online. even If your parents agree, it's a good idea to keep all of your profiles on the "Private" setting.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
If you get any chain mail like this, don't fall for it. They're all fake messages from attention-seekers who want nothing but comments, likes and shares.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

What areas of the internet are you checking out? Be sure to discuss what kinds of websites you're allowed to visit with your parents.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Never share your password with anyone except your parents. Not even your sister, brother, or best friends!
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

Is your computer protected? Always install an anti-virus software and Make sure to use a trusted brand! (Norton, Avast, AVG, Mcafee, etc.)

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
Don't download games/apps/software without parent permission. It could contain a virus!
