New England colonies: Rhode Island
Rhode Island was founded by Roger Williams in 1636. The major industries were agriculture, livestock, dairy, and fishing. The geography had flat rolling hills and lowlands. The climate was short summers and long, cold winters. There was no religious freedom in the areas inhabited by the Puritans as they did not want or tolerate any other form of religion. The colony focused on building ships and exporting rum. The Colony had became a state on May 29, 1790.
