Compound Event- Consists of two or more events happening.

Independent Events- The occurrence of one event does not affect the probability of the occurrence of the other event.

Dependent Events-The occurrence of one event does affect the probability of the other event.


1.)Q:You select the letter A from a group of 4 letters, 1 y, 1 z, 1 a, and 1 m. Without replacing A, you select a new letter. What is the probability you will get a Y?

2.) 28 marbles were in a bag. The colors possible are 10 red,10 blue, and 8 green. Rose takes out a marble that is red. Without replacing the red, what is the probability John will draw another red marble?

Directions: A box has 20 cards numbered 1-20 in it. You select one card. Without replacing the first card, you grab a second card. Find each probability.

3.) P(1, then 19)

4.) P( 3, then odd)

5.) P( even, then 9)
