Ways to Conserve Water
There is only 3% of freshwater on earth and less than 1% is available to humans. The other 2% is in icecaps,ice bergs, ice sheets, bogs, lakes, swamps, ponds, rivers, and streams. There are plenty of ways you can save water, here are some.
Don't put things in the toilet that don't belong there.
When you flush a piece of paper or ashes down the toilet you waste about 5-7 gallons. When you flush trash and ashes you can cause a backup in your home or in communities water treatment facility. By only flushing things that are suppose to be in the toilet you can conserve water.
Don't let the water run while you brush your teeth
When you brush your teeth and let the water run you waste a lot of water. When you brush your teeth and don't turn off the water in between uses you can waste up to 4 gallons of water. If you turn off the water when you are not using it you can help conserve gallons of water everyday.
Have full loads when you use the dishwasher or the washing machine.
When you use the dishwasher or washing machine for full loads you are saving about 5 gallons of water for the other half of the load that you of had to wash. Also you are saving yourself money from not having to use the electricity twice as much as you need to so you can find benefits in saving water too.
