Devon Ke Dev Mahadev: Mythology at its Best!
A story may have an interesting story-line, but it is the actors or actresses who pull it off that actually deserve a round of applause, especially when the show turns out to be a success. Having been on air since the year of 2011 when it was launched in December, Devon Ke Dev Mahadev has changed the face of mythological serials in India.
There are many interesting actors and actresses who are known to comprise an interesting Devon Ke Dev Mahadev cast. Actor, Mohit Raina who portrays the role of Lord Shiva/Mahadev actually improved on his physique for this show. He has been widely spoken about owing to his fantastic fitness regime. In fact, he has even changed the way that people look at Shiva. With his brooding face, charming antics and chiselled body, Mohit is currently the man of the moment and is one of the main reasons, at least women stay hooked on this serial every night!
Besides this, Mohit is also known for essaying the role of Jalandhar, Mahadev’s look-alike and who he also gives birth to. It is through the rays of light which emanate from his third eye which when striking the depth of the deep blue sea. Jalandhar is known to take birth from those beams of light which trickle from the ocean. However, he is a complete opposite to Mahadev. The serial also has Pooja Bose who replaced Sonarika Bhadoria; essaying the role of Parvati. Pooja is well-known for portrayal of role of Goddess Parvati, Goddess Adi-Shakti and Goddess Kali.
Other prominent actors and actresses include Radha Krishna Dutt who portrays the role of Lord Brahma, Salina Prakash as Saraswati, Saurabh Raj Jain as Lord Vishnu, Ragini Dubey as Lakshmi, Jiten Lalwani and Vikram Aditya as Lord Ling Indra, Rubina Dilaik as Sita, Kunal Verma as Lakshman, Vishal Kotian as Hanuman, Vineet Kumar as Bharat. Demons have been portrayed as Mohit Rain playing Jaladhara, Rahul Dev as Demon Arunasur, Raj Premi as Demon Tarakasur, Akhilendra Mishra as King Mahabali, etc. Anushka Sen was known to depict ‘young’ Parvati.
Having gained tremendous popularity, the show has also been dubbed in other regional languages such as Tamil, Malayalam, Oriya and Telugu as Shivam, Kailasanathan, Mahadev and Hara Hara Mahadeva. While the Tamil version airs on Star Vijay, the Malayalam version airs on Asianet and the Telegu series on MAA TV.
Having been written by Utkarsh Naithani and Mihir Bhuta; the show is directed by Nikhil Sinha and Manish Singh. Aniruddh Pathak is the creative director. Also known by other names, the serial is also known as Mahadev and Devon Ke Dev Mahadev - Rudra Bhi Aur Bhole Bhi.
Mouni Roy who was known for her role as Sati, is rumoured to make a comeback; however only as a cameo role for a few months. Besides this, the lead actor Mohit Raina is rumoured to quit the show as he is all set to enter Bollywood where he has signed up for a thriller movie that is to be produced by Eros International Limited.
