Mobile Apps for students K-12
Five mobile apps that could be used in k-12 classroom
1. Imovie- This i Pad app allows students to create a movie trailer. Students are able to pick themes, music, upload pictures and add text to describe a topic or concept. This app could be used in the classroom as a get to know your classroom activity. Students could make a trailer about themselves. It could also be used to descible a certain science concept or be a trailer to a story or play they are working on in class.
2. StoryKit- This is another iPad app that allows students to create a digital storybook. This could be used in a final project in English.
3. Goanimate- This is a website that provides students with all the tools in creating a short video. Students are able to pick a setting, characters, voices and create a dialogue. This website is fun and easy for students to use in creating videos in expressing a certain topic or theme.
4. Reading Bear- A free online website that focusing on helping children learn to read using videos, powerpoint and ebooks.
5.MindMeister- This is a website that allows students to brainstorm by creating maps and webs. It can be used in any subject area that requires students to brainstorm but does it in a fun and engaging way on the internet. Students can save their webs and share them with the rest of the class by broadcasting them on a Smartboard. They can easily be modified or changed.
