Equality means when everybody is equal and has equal rights. One time when equality was broken was when there was slavery. Colored people were treated terribly. They were sold to white people, and couldn't speak their mind without getting beaten or whipped, or sometimes even killed. Most didn't even try to run away. Even after slavery in the U.S. was abolished, folks still treated colored people badly. Even now, some people still segregate against people of different races.
