Over the past 25 years, Urban Smart Growth and its affilitates has transformed more than 1,000,000square feet of misused and neglected 19th century factories, warehouses, churches, schools, apartments and hotels into over 5,000 apartment units, as well as multiple retail and commercial spaces. Since 2004, entrepreneur and financial expert Lance Robbins has overseen the firm’s development of stylish and contemporary mixed-use lofts, traditional apartments, and retail and commercial spaces around the country.
As Chief Operating Officer of Urban Smart Growth, Lance Robbins has played an integral role in the growth of the company over the last six years. In this capacity, Lance Robbins interfaces with all persons involved in the historic rehabilitation process, including municipal, state, and federal government officials; financiers and investors; and operations personnel. When appropriate, Lance Robbins, J.D., has acted as attorney for the firm, reviewing corporate activities for legal and contractual compliance.
Since joining Urban Smart Growth, Lance Robbins has applied his academic background in economics and finance to working with financial partners and developing fiscal models that encourage the growth of projects. Lance Robbins’ creation of an Urban Smart Growth master development plan has streamlined operations at the company. In addition, Lance Robbins invests much of his time searching nationwide for appropriate projects and cultivating the necessary legal, financial, governmental, and developer relationships to turn the sites into profitable assets.
Lance Robbins is committed to redeveloping communities positively to benefit their residents. As such, Lance Robbins spearheads community outreach efforts to encourage support of projects while making sure buildings are appropriately and tastefully redesigned to fit the appearance of the surrounding neighborhoods. Lance Robbins runs Urban Smart Growth according to the principle that good business means obtaining input from all stakeholders in a project. Spcifically Mr. Robbins and USG have been catalytic developers for the East Franklinton area of Columbus Ohio, for which Mr. Robbins served on the area plan steering committee, USG and Mr.Robbins was Man of the Year in Pawtucket Rhode Island for the positive impact of Hope Artiste Village, a 600,000 squre foot mixed used development, and was the developer leading the repositioning of the failing Colt Friearms Factory in Hartford Connecticut, among others.
