The 52 Albums that define my love for music

Week 49/Album 49

Who: Arcade Fire - "Funeral"

When:  2005

Why:  I had just moved back to Cleveland from Tampa, and moved into our Grandmothers old house with my cousin Josh.  One day, while doing the dishes, Josh gives me this CD. "Have you heard this band yet?" Josh asked.  "Nope" I replied "but that's a pretty sweet band name"  and popped the CD in.  After the first song, I was sold on Arcade Fire. I knew nothing about them besides the name.  " That song "Tunnels" is still my all time favorite Arcade Fire song.

Where: I've seen AF a couple times.  The best was seeing them at Red Rocks, which was an experience.

Anyone that is a fan of Arcade Fire will usually revert to this album as being their favorite. There really isn't a bad song on the record. They have since become one of the biggest bands in the world.

My cousin Josh isn't the biggest music buff, but he nailed this one on the head.  I'm not the biggest indie rock guy, but this band gave me an appreciation for it.

There are some records that you absolutely love in your life, but cant really explain why. This record is that for me. Its not too heavy, quiet, fast or slow. Its just a great record. It listens like a book. Each song is its own chapter and gives you a different feeling.

Arcade Fire's albums are all great, but where AF stands out is their live shows. Their shows are like loud, fun carnival sing-alongs. They engulf you (unless you arent a fan, and then you'd probably hate it)  They're just fun, positive music. I can appreciate that.  Thanks, Josh,
