Nationalism And Sectionalism
Nationalism and Sectionalism had a major effects on the United States in the 1800s. For example there was a change in the economic policies. The Tariff of 1816 had made Democratic Republicans turn their backs on their old principles . They now favored federal power to help industrialists and their workers. One of those people was Henry Clay. Sectionalism separated the North and South. The North took advantage of industrialization, while the South progressed in agriculture.
