Duke Ash Problem
Duke Energy has been dumping coal ash from their plants into the Dan river. 61 million gallons have been pumped so far. The coal takes up 70 miles of the Dan river. This is Duke Energy's eighth violation that the state has issued against them in less than a month. This has affected the Cape Fear area greatly because of it's toxicity to humans and wildlife. The state is currently testing samples from the river for hazardous chemicals. Duke Energy should be liable for cleaning the coal ash from the river, because it's their power plants that were dumping the ash, and they're responsible for their power plants. This relates to business ethics because they haven't got much regard for the environment, therefore showing that their environmental protection standards aren't very high. Duke Energy should take responsibility for this if they want to even try to keep their reputation from being completely ruined.
